The first sacrament involves the conception of a child, seeking blessings for a healthy and virtuous offspring.

2. Pumsavana

Performed during pregnancy, this rite is to ensure the well-being and protection of both the mother and the child.

3. Simantonnayana

This ritual is performed during the seventh month of pregnancy and involves the parting of the expectant mother's hair, symbolizing the opening of her psychic and physical senses to receive blessings.

4. Jatakarma

This is the birth ceremony where prayers and rituals are performed to welcome the newborn into the world.

5. Namakaran

This is the naming ceremony where the child is given a name, often chosen based on astrological or spiritual significance.

6. Nishkramana

It is the rite of taking the child outside for the first time, usually after the tenth day of birth.

7. Annaprashana

The first feeding of solid food to the infant is celebrated in this ceremony, often around the sixth month of age.

8. Chudakarana

Also known as Mundan or the first haircut, this ritual involves shaving the child's head as a symbol of purity and growth.

9. Karnavedha

It is the piercing of the child's ears, typically done in early childhood, to enhance hearing and promote spiritual development.

The completion of formal education is celebrated in this ceremony, after which the student returns home.
